The Protectors® with Jason Piccolo
The original The Protectors® podcast, established in 2019, is about resilience, reinvention, and the moments that change the direction of our lives.
Hosted by retired federal agent, U.S. Army veteran (OIF 2006), author, and interviewer Dr. Jason Piccolo, the show explores what happens after service, success, failure, burnout, loss, transition, and personal transformation.
Through conversations with veterans, leaders, athletes, entrepreneurs, and everyday people who chose a new path, The Protectors® focuses on growth, identity, purpose, and the courage to move forward.
Jason also interviews both bestselling and independent authors, exploring the creative process, the writing journey, the challenges of publishing, and the stories behind the books. From debut novels to works by New York Times bestselling authors, these conversations offer insights into storytelling, perseverance, and success.
These are conversations about second chapters, hard-earned wisdom, and finding meaning after life changes course.
Whether you’re rebuilding, redefining yourself, chasing something new, launching a new venture, writing your first book, or simply trying to move forward, The Protectors® is about navigating change with resilience and purpose.

SPECIAL REPORT: Melissa Robey of WE BACK BLUE joined the show to talk about the organization’s origins, bridging the public and police divide, and the Toys For Tots drives across the area, including this weekend with Governor Elect Youngkin lending a hand. Melissa also discusses ways that Gov. Elect Youngkin has reached out to law enforcement during the campaign, building coalitions.
WE BACK BLUE’s mission is to give communities the opportunity to build trust and advocate for their police. We will support police initiatives working diligently to ensure departments across the country are well-equipped and safe to carry out their duty to protect and serve.
TOYS FOR TOTS: Chantilly, VA. For the second year, We Back Blue will partner with the Virginia State Police and the Virginia Department of Transportation to collect toys for children in need. The event will be held on Saturday, December 4th from 12:00pm-4:00pm in the parking lot of the Target store in Chantilly, VA. All collections will go to Toys for Tots, whose primary mission is to “help bring the joy of Christmas and send a message of hope to America's less fortunate children.” There will be a drive-through toy drop-off as well as the opportunity to take pictures with a cruiser, Marines in uniform, Santa, and other very special guests. We also partnered with a law enforcement family-owned coffee/cocoa truck, Roll Call Room Cafe’s Mobile. Toys for Tots has unfortunately seen a drastic reduction in donations. On average, they collect over 100,000 toys to be distributed to kids in need. This year they are in greater need, and we are going to do our part to help! Our goal is to raise awareness for this incredible event, while also helping to make up some of the shortfalls they’ve experienced due to the pandemic. Last year We Back Blue collected 500 toys, this year our goal is 1500 plus.
Location: Target located at 14391 Chantilly Crossing Ln., Chantilly, VA 20151.
